Caithness Beach Cleans

Using beach-combed rope we create beautiful, truly unique doormats. The mats are hard-wearing, rot-resistant and can be hosed clean. Each doormat is different, taking on the characteristics of the working history and the beach the rope was found on. Each mat will have it's size on the listing (click the image).  Mats can be made to order, with a small tolerance for individual ropes, colours will be dependent on what ropes have been found. The rope used is normally 10 or 12ml.

 

The ropes are all collected by a local voluntary group who spend a lot of time collecting plastics from our beautiful Caithness Beaches. Often the Atlantic Storms, which are a common occurrence here, or maybe the high tide created by the full moon, causes the sea to pound our beaches, providing wonderful waves for surfers, absolutely stunning scenery and a dismaying scene of plastic litter, whether fishing ropes, plastic bottles, buoys or plastic sheeting.
